Purpose of Match

CMP-Sanctioned matches are now offered for the following: M1 Garand, 1903/A3 Springfield, Vintage Military, M1 Carbine, Unlimited Garand, and Modern Military rifles (AR-15). All firing will take place on the same firing line simultaneously.

The Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military, and M1 Carbine matches are some of CMP’s most popular CMP Games events held during the National Matches in Camp Perry, Ohio every year. These matches allow local competitors to hone their skills on these old warhorse rifles, and have fun doing it. COURSE OF FIRE IS 50 ROUND MATCH WITH SIGHTERS. 30 ROUND MATCH AVAILABLE.

John C. Garand Match – competitors use an as-issued M1 Garand. The course of fire is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots slow fire standing. All shot from 100 yards on targets reduced to simulate 200 yds.

 

Springfield Match – competitors use an as-issued 1903 or 1903A3 Springfield rifle. The course of fire is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots slow fire standing. All shot from 100 yards on targets reduced to simulate 200 yds.

 

Vintage Military Rifle Match –

competitors use any vintage U.S. or vintage foreign as-issued rifle. The course of fire is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots slow fire standing. All shot from 100 yards on targets reduced to simulate 200 yds.

 

M1 Carbine Rifle Match – competitors use an as-issued M1 Carbine and fire 40 shots at a distance of 100 yards on SR-1 targets. The course of fire is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots rapid-fire sitting; 10 shots slow fire standing.

Modern Military Carbine Rifle Match – All competitors use an AR-15 Carbine type rifle and fire 50 shots at a distance of 100 yards on targets reduced to simulate 200 yds. The course of fire is 25 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots rapid-fire seated; 10 shots slow-fire standing. Optics (scopes) up to 4.5x magnification are now allowed.
